$300 in taxi fees and stranded

I started tallying receipts from my recent Chicago trips.

Over the course of two visits (totally four days of travel) I spent over $300 on cabs and hired cars. Quite amazing!

In retrospect I wish I had rented a car - would have cost Big Company $185+tax. Also, would have provided me with substantially more flexibility.

The biggest expense was the downtown trip from airport hotels (over and over again). It ran $45 - $55 each time. I remember long ago it was almost half as much.

The bigger challenge of course is that I didn't have transportation to anywhere I could buy less expensive products (than the hotel's).

Next trip will feature a car, shop to the super market, etc....
