Last night I removed my old Netgear FS524 10/100 rack mountable 24 port ethernet switch and replaced it with a brand new Netgear Gigabit Ethernet Switch series JGS500.
The oddest thing happened. My office became quiet!
The small 12" wide 1.5" tall switch was had a side fan and rear fan - the switch was the loudest machine in my office. I'm amazed!!
The new switch cost $220 from newegg.com. I'm very happy with it. It took a minute to install - entirely plug and play.
One of the best features about it was the auto-uplink feature. Any port can be connected to your router without having to worry about any special settings or uplink buttons. It sorts everything out for you.
I highly recommend the switch, especially if you want a quieter office.
My question to you is, what makes the most noise in your office?

Usually one (or both) of our cats! This is because we are purring contently while nap on the couch or we are meowing at our humans because they are not paying enough attention to how cute and lovable we are!
