Although it's not personal finance, this is something interesting:
NASA's Hubble telescope processed light emited from 180,000 stars looking for variences caused by the orbit of planets. In so doing it found 16 new planet candidates.
As many of them orbit their suns much more quickly than ours, it does not sound like many are habitable. Here is the link to the article.
