I was preparing to switch banks for online banking, emigrant seems to lag the other banks by several months. I was considering Umbrella, HSBC and an in-state bank when Emigrant raised their rate to 4.5%. You can check the latest rates at bankrate. GMAC bank has four stars (****) and is the second highest rate before HSBC's teaser rate. Once that expires, what will HSBC charge?
For now I'll keep things with Emigrant, but I'm very tempted to set up an alternate account with GMAC to use if Emigrant continues it's multi-month lag.
